Almo

We spent last weekend in Almo, ID with the Whitakers.  We had a great time, mixed with a little drama.

Both the boys had had colds since the Monday before and when we woke up Saturday morning  they still had bad coughs and runny noses.  I called the weekend doctor and they said we could come in at 9:30, so we threw everything in the car and headed to the doctor.  He said it was just a cold but no infection, so we went on our way to Almo, but by then I was starting feel the symptoms.

We arrived around 2 pm and hung out with Bill's sisters and their families.  We all had dinner and played at a park, but that evening I really started to feel weak.  None of us slept well that night and Sunday morning my throat was killing me.

We got to meet our new cousin, Caleb Robinson

Pinata time!

Bill took the boys to church with the rest of the family and let me sleep, but when he got back we decided I needed to go to a doctor.  Almo has no hospital, so we drove 45 minutes to Burley.  The only weekend place they have had closed an hour earlier, so we had to drive another 45 minutes to Twin Falls.

The quick strep test came back negative, but the doctor said my throat was so red that he prescribed me a Z-pack anyway.  Bill dropped me off at the pharmacy and took the boys to McDonalds across the street.  I walked over after I got my prescription and they played and ate a little more.  When we were leaving I carried Sam to the restroom while Bill gathered up all our things.  We all got in the car and drove and hour and a half back to Almo.

When we got back to our cabin and were getting out of the car, I realized that we had left Sam's only pair of shoes we had brought at McDonalds!  I about died.  We had a whole day of hiking planned for Monday!  So Monday morning, Bill got back in the car with Sam and drove 45 minutes to the Burley Target to buy some new shoes.  They got back in time for us to go horseback riding and then we went hiking in the City of Rocks.

I was definitely feeling a lot better but was still weak and barely had a voice.  We had a great time and the weather was gorgeous until we woke up this morning to crazy wind and even light snow.  We got all packed up and said goodbye and headed home.

We had beautiful weather all weekend until we woke us Tuesday morning.  We packed up pretty quick and hit the road.

We got off to a slow start, but once the cattle cleared, we were on our way!  We can't wait until the next time!

P.S. On our way home we drove through Twin Falls and swung by the McDonalds and found Sam's shoes!  Happy Ending!

Yikes and so fun all at the same time. You are a trooper. My fave pic is the one with Bill's bed head. I also loved seeing you on the horse. Takes me back to our Sawtooth adventure. :) Glad you're feeling better. Looks like you had an amazing trip.
