First Day of School

Isn't he cute?! Bill spent most of today in orientation meetings. Classes actually start on Wednesday. He had to take his laptop with him, so I've been doing laundry and a little shopping while I await the delivery of our desktop computer. It will be so nice to have it all set up since it will also serve as our television for the next 10 months!

Home Sweet Home

We made it! This is our humble home for the next 10 months. Our window looks out onto Broadway. It's pretty cozy!

We arrived Wednesday afternoon and have been on the go ever since. I've walked more in these three days than I have since the beginning of this year! It's great exercise! Our first night here we walked 5 blocks to Kmart and got towels, pillows, dishes, silverware and a bunch of other necessities. We're slowly getting settled and seeing some fun things in the mean time.

Thursday we did more shopping and errands and then went for a walk in Central Park. Yesterday we went to the Statue of Liberty and the Financial District and today we did the Empire State Building. Both of us have been to some of these places before, but it's so fun going together!

Home on the Range

What a fun weekend we had at the 71 Ranch near Elko Nevada!

My whole family was there and it was so fun to spend one last weekend with them all. We enjoyed all kinds of fun activities including horsebackriding, trap shooting, volleyball, horseshoes, and just sitting around talking, relaxing, eating and even watching some of the Olympics!

It was such a great way to spend our last weekend before we move. Now we just have to get completely organized and ready to board our plane on Wedensday morning. Wish us luck!

End of an Era

Yesterday was my last day of work at Smith Barney. It was such a weird feeling thinking that I wouldn't be back there Monday morning. I have had such a great experience working there. Fred, Jan & Alex have been so good to me over the years and I will miss them dearly!

Family, family and more family

This has been a great couple of months! We have had so much fun seeing our brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. My brother, Dan and his family came from Eugene, OR to visit over the 4th of July. The morning of the 4th we made our annual trip up to Brighton Ski Resort where my other brother, Dave's singles ward puts on a delicious 4th of July breakfast.

Bill and I flew up to Boise, ID for the weekend to visit my two sisters. Our first day there we floated down the Boise River with Becky's family. Then on Sunday we had dinner at Ann's house. Bill flew home Monday morning, but I stayed one more day and went to my niece and nephews' swim meet. They are great little swimmers!

Reunited

In June we had a wonderful Whitaker Family Reunion. This is the first time that all of Bill's sisters, brother and their spouses have been together in many years. We even had 16 of the 19 grandchildren there too! It was so much fun!

We spent the first couple of days playing, swimming, golfing, eating, etc. Then we had even more aunts, uncles and cousins come for a fun picnic and talent show. Everyone had such a good time and I loved meeting more of Bill's family. I'm so glad we were all able to get together before we move. Fortunately, Bill's brother, James and his family live in D.C. and Bill's sister, Tina and her husband live in Albany. We hope to get to see them often!!

A Birthday, a B&B and a Baby!

I've been quite a blog slacker. But it's not for a lack of events to report. I just don't know where the time goes!

Bill celebrated his 29th birthday on June 1. His last year in the 20's! I still feel like I'm 25, so that sounds OLD to me! ;) We had a nice dinner at my parents' house and the next weekend we went to see Indiana Jones. I wouldn't recommend rushing out to see it, but it was entertaining. Happy (belated) Birthday Bill! I hope it's your best year yet!

Over Memorial Day weekend we drove up to Almo, ID. “Where is that?” you ask? It’s south of Burley in beautiful southern Idaho, near the City of Rocks.

Many of Bill's ancestors lived there and some of his relatives still own an old family ranch. We stayed in a cute little Bed & Breakfast, had a nice lunch with some extended family and visited the town cemetery. We also went water dowsing on some of Bill's aunt & uncles' land and it seems that both Bill and I have the gift! It's a very beautiful place.

And last, but certainly not least, we are officially announcing that we are having a BABY! We will welcome the little one into our 390 sq ft studio in New York in mid-December. What a merry Christmas it will be! We are thrilled!
